Hike 3 breathtaking summits in one day!
Saturday, July 21, 2012
Hike the Highlands Festival Society is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge (click here ) will take place Saturday, July 20, 2013. The three mountains selected to be hiked in this year’s challenge are Franey, Fishing Cove and Acadien. Teams of 4 members are expected to hike 3 mountains in one day.
Here is a picture of the 18 teams that participated in the 2nd Annual Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge on Saturday, July 16th, 2011. Teams hiked three mountains in one day starting with Franey, then Roberts Mountain and finished with Acadien. After completing the challenge, teams checked in at the Nature Book Store and later enjoyed a closing reception at Parks Canada Visitor Information Centre, Cheticamp. The weather for the day was showers, drizzle, and fog. A different twist compared to last year but provided some interesting photos. Some can be seen on our Facebook page and a slideshow posted below. Unfortunately hikers could not see much of the views at the top of each peak due to the fog. Thanks to all the hikers and teams for participating in this event and making this a successful day.
This event is growing each year and has caught the eye of many hikers and those who enjoy a good challenge. Hike the Highlands Festival Society would like to say a big thank-you to all of our volunteers and our partners – Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Les Amis du Plein Air/Nature Book Store – for all your assistance with this event.
