Finding the Right Mix -Hiking Cameras

I am a hiker who enjoys long distance hikes but who is searching for the right camera(s) for hiking.  Hiking 12- 14 miles a day with gear makes it hard to carry alot of camera gear especially my DSLR camera with lens.

Recently I saw two cameras that caught my eye.
The Nikon Coolpix A900 and the Canon PowerShot SX720 HS.  The Nikon Coolpix A900 camera has 35 optical zoom with 70 X Dynamic Zoom, plus 4K Ultra HD video as well built in WiFi, NFC and Bluetooth. It has a 3 inch tilting LCD, along with 5-Axis Hybrid Vibration Reduction (VR) and full manual exposure control.

The Canon Powershot SX 720 HS has 20.3 mp 1/2.3′ CMOS sensor, with 40 optical zoom (24-900mm), a 3 inch LCD monitor, Full HD 1080 video recorder with 60fps. The camera has Intelligent IS image stabilization, built in WiFi with NFC and Zoom Framing Assistant. This camera also has DIGIC 6 Image Processor.

Both cameras sell around the same price – $499.99 (CAN) but if you watch for Christmas or Boxing Week sales you should get some great deals. In summary, both cameras offer some great features plus amazing zoom for your hiking photos.
