Dalhousie University has an interesting article in their spring alumi magazine that is well worth a read –  “Live Longer, Healthier and Smarter by Skana Gee. Click expand above and turn to page 19. The article is on pages 19-21. It certainly opens your eyes.  Here are just some of the highlights :

1) Exercise improves brain function as you age – Dr. Ken Rockwood,  as well appears to prevent dementia
2) “Up your exercise quotient ” says Dr. Rockwood
a) 45 minutes of brisk activity 5-6 days a week
b) include exercises you can do regardless of weather
c) add or include 30 minutes of resistance training 3 times a week
3)  Dr. Olga Theou research indicates it’s not just exercise that is important but how much time you spend sitting down.
