Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, Wales

February 18, 2014 By Tom Wilson Walking Wales

An amazing treasure. The Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. What makes this long distance walk special ?  Outstanding coastal scenery, cliffs, sunrises & sunsets, attractions, & heritage sites along the path. There was also plenty of wildlife, animals & birds on the path such as – cattle, ponies, horses, sheep, goats, pheasants & birds.

This 128 mile coastal path is located in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Northern Wales on the Isle of Anglesey.  It passes through landscape that includes a mixture of farmland, coastal heath, dunes, beaches, salt-marsh, stepping stones, burial chambers, old churches, roads, foreshore, cliffs. There was also some woodland on the path that included a National Nature Reserve (NNR) & Nature trust areas.

There are two companies offering Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path packages – Contours and Anglesey Walking Holidays. I went with the latter because of price, personal service, tripadvisor reviews (70 & counting) and the route. This company also provided me use of a cell phone. Each accommodation I stayed at had free WiFi service allowing me to communicate back home each day.

This is a special long distance walk/hike that provides wonderful landscape photo opportunities.   Below are just a small sample of the photos I took during Day 1 of my walk on this coastal path.
