Middle Head Hike – Great Start

A great turnout of hikers enjoyed the first hike of the Hike the Highlands Festival at Middle Head.  This trail is located in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and is 4km long. It was a perfect evening for a hike and the right trail to start the festival off.  The first hike is always special as it gives us an opportunity to see our hikers friends again and catch up on the news.

The Middle Head hike features many coastal scenery look-offs along the way with Cape Smokey on the right and Ingonish Island on the left. It is a  popular trail for hikers and photographers.  Middle Head separates Ingonish into two bays – North and South Bay. Eagles were spotted at the end of  Middle Head.

Our guides Sandra Curtis and Lisa Dixon along with our sweeps Chrissie Hawley and Shaune Warren did a wonderful job pacing us, providing us with right amount of breaks and  had us back in lots of time before the opening ceremonies of the festival.  The hike is approximately 1.5-2 hours long.

Below are a few pictures taken on the Middle Head Hike.  Today’s hike are White Point to Burnt Head and Coastal with sun and cloud conditions.
