Day 6 – Waterfall, Clouds and Wind

Corney Brook Waterfall, Cape Breton Highlands National Park, photo credit -Tom WilsonIt was a day of contrasts travelling from Ingonish early in the morning, the sea was roaring and waves high especially at Black Brook. The wind was NE but at Cheticamp area it westerly.  Corney Brook trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, was the first hike of the day and it did not disappoint with a nice waterfall at the end.

Lunch was at Corney Brook Shelter and Lenard LeBlanc provided an interesting history of Le Bloc and fishing in the Cheticamp & area.

The afternoon hike featured a new hike in this year’s festival – Blueberry Mountain. This hike was led by Guide Annette LeBlanc, who admits this is her favourite trail. It was approximately an hour and ten minutes to the top. The view was incredible on top especially with the clouds but so was the wind. We had to use our poles to brace ourselves from the wind. Kinda of reminds us from past days at Money Point and Meat Cove. The hike down was considerably faster.
