Great Start to Hiking Festival – Day 1 & 2

Cape Breton Highlands National Park / Franey Hiking Trail / Hike the Highlands Festival
The 2016 Hike the Highlands Festival got off to a great start with an evening hike at Jack Pine and opening ceremonies on Day 1; There were three hikes on Day 2 that attracted over 100 hiker. Hikes included a sunrise hike at Smokey Towers, the classic hike – Franey and Middle Head.
The weather has been great the first two days and long range forecast has very little rain. Evening activities have been well attended so far with opening ceremonies on Day 1 and on Day 2 there was an informative presentation – Bring Back the Boreal by Jean Marc Renault, Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
