The big news of the day, the weather cooperates and we managed to miss most of the tropical storm Gabrielle at the Hike the Highlands Festival. The day began with a sunrise hike at Middle Head. Close to 30 people got up early and took in the 6:00 am. hike. It was well worth it to see the sunrise. There was time to relax for a coffee or tea afterwards before the next two hikes  – Franey & Warren Lake. The last hike of the day was at Broad Cove Mountain.  160 hikers enjoyed today’s hikes in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

The day ended with a evening presentation on Health, Nutrition and Fitness by Rychina Williams that was well received by the hikers. She provided some interesting facts and tips on health, nutrition, and fitness that we took home with us to implement.
