Foxback Trail

Trail Information

A new trail for Hike the Highlands Festival this year.  Foxback Trail is 14 kms (5 hours) return with a difficulty of 3C. The first 2 kms is steep climbing and takes you to the top of Foxback Ridge where you have a panoramic view of Pleasant Bay and the surrounding gulches. As you keep walking, you veer inland along the plateau and the trail leads you to a beautiful, pristine area where a wilderness cabin is situated. Moose are very abundant on this trail. Part of the trail is muddy and wet, so prepare with proper footwear. Gaiters recommended.

Trailhead: Veer right at the intersection going down to Pleasant Bay Harbour off the Cabot Trail and stay on the Red River Road for approximately 6 kms. Turn right at Hinkley Glen Road and continue on for about 1 km.
Significant Feature: Panoramic View of Pleasant Bay community.
Length: 14 km return.
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
