The last day of the Hike the Highlands Festival featured the Clyburn Valley hike . Nineteen hikers enjoy this peaceful and serene walk thru hardwood stands along the Clyburn River. You will also pass by the Highlands Links golf course.  At the end of the trail you will see remains of  a gold mine settlement  – bunkhouse, dining room, cold room, office etc.  Stories indicate it was operational in the late 1880 -1897  and later in 1900’s to 1916.  It was close due to war time as it was hard to get supplies from UK.

And so another Hike the Highlands Festival closes and work has already begun in planning for next year’s festival scheduled for September 8-17, 2017.  Thanks to amazing bunch of hikers, our great volunteer team, our partners and sponsors for helping make this year’s festival such a great success.
