Day 2 Festival Highlights
Sixty plus hikers enjoyed today’s 3 hikes with sunny conditions and a little breeze at times. Thirteen hikers got up early (Bravo) and were at the trailhead at 5:30 am to enjoy a Sunrise Hike on Middle Head trail. It did not disappoint. The 10:00 am. hike to Slatey Point attracted lots of interest and lunch was on the Clyburn River rocks. A visit to the Gold Mine and its buildings was also part of the hike. The final hike of the day was on North Bay beach where hikers learned about the history of the Clyburn Brook & National Park. The evening presentation was on the Coast to Coast walk (182 miles) in Northern England by Elaine Wallace that goes through three National Parks. The route taken involved hiking 16 days and navigating by using google maps.
