The Hike the Highlands festival is fortunate to have in our own backyard the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It has been a valuable partner in all 10 years of our festival and provided some great hiking trails for hikers to enjoy during the 10 day festival. Today’s hikes took part part in the middle of the national park and featured Aspy (Beulach Ban Falls), the Lone Shieling, MacIntosh Brook and Benjies Lake.

Hikers were able to see two unique waterfalls – Beulach Ban (above)and MacIntosh Brook (below) today. In the evening hikers enjoyed a presentation – Sharing Spaces: Living with Coyotes by Carly Sponarski, Cape Breton Highlands National Park and a wine and cheese reception hosted by Les Amis du Plein Air.
