Day 4, September 11th started off fine with the sunrise hike on Broad Cove Mountain but just as the Clyburn Valley hike started it poured. Hikers found shelter and waited for awhile before proceeding. The trail started to flood over and our guide decided it was time to turn back before it got worse. The last hike of the day was on the NHN ski trail system in Cape North were 14 hikers enjoyed the last hike of the day. It was rather fitting the Climate Change presentation by Julie Cossette and Veronique Hutton of Parks Canada ended the day. Here is a link to their latest YouTube video – Building a better future – Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Climate Change is one of the greatest challenges of our generation. Learn how Cape Breton Highlands National Park is adapting to climate change.
